Wayfinding / Greening

(2 out of 4 fishes)
No signs leading to entrance and only one menu sign.  But ordering was simple, you pay then you tell the serving line what you want.  Line moved a little slow with limited space in the cafeteria serving window to be more efficient.  Styrofoam plates and cups, although condiments were in bulk and you could pour ketchup directly on your plate.  Visible recycling next to where they served cans of soda was a nice touch.

Food

Cod was not their strength.  Pre-breaded and I had to use the tartar sauce.  Other choices included fried shrimp, jack salmon, and chees tortellini.  Sides included french fries, green beans, cole slaw, and mac and cheese.  Kids meals included grilled cheese, half cod dinner, and mac and cheese.  Selection of desserts was limited, at least when we went back up for ours.

Value

Good value.  Approximately $28 for our family of five.  $8.25 for fried cod dinner, $9 for fried shrimp dinner.  Dinners include dessert and drink (tea, lemonade, or coffee).  Kids dinners were $4.  Soda was available.  No beer, but not sure if this was because of Good Friday.

Atmosphere

Good buzz of conversation and nicely crowded.  Cafeteria had some limitations with relatively low ceiling and in the basement.  However, with with the storms in the area, it was nice to be in the basement.  Cafeteria tables had those built-in round stools, which I'm never a fan.  Friendly volunteers.  Plates and trays were quickly cleared from the table.

Overall
2.5 out of 4.  A good solid, south City fish fry.  I was disappointed with the Cod, but the other choices looked good.  My wife's fried shrimp was tasty and the kids enjoyed their grilled cheese.  Friendly and smiling staff and volunteers made an enjoyable end to the 2011 fish fry season.

Year End Reviews

Sometimes it is hard to compare fish fries from year to year. Comparing that Cod from 2014 to 2008 can be a little tough. With that in mind, below is a yearly re-cap for each of the following years. We got a little busy in 2015, then 2017-2019 went by in a blur, so we are missing a few years, so sorry!

Fan Poll Winners - Best Fish Fry

Every year Friday Night Fish hosts a fan poll to crown a yearly fan favorite Fish Fry. It's a two step process with Round 1 selecting five finalists, and Round 2 voting from the final five to crown the yearly fan champion. So get ready every year for the annual poll and get your supporters voting for your favorite fish fry! We had some voting "irregularities" in 2014, so we discontinued the poll (for now).

For a recap of past winners see Past Fan Poll Winners.
