Wayfinding / Greening

(1 out of 4 fishes)

No signs outside and just a couple of menu signs inside.  We were able to find the entrance easily enough however.  Ordering was pay first get your order slip filled out.  Here they even get your order slip to the detail of what kind of bread you want.  Hardly any line at 5:15, but picked starting around 5:30.  I didn't quite understand the difference between the fillet and combo choices, but once we got our order slip filled out, getting our food went smoothly.  Styrofoam plates and even cups. No visible recycling.  Although bulk tartar, cocktail sauce and ketchup.

Food

Pre-breaded Cod triangles!  Our first for the season.  I had to get the tartar sauce.  Not bad for pre-breaded Cod, nice and hot.  My wife's baked Cod was very good.  Cole slaw was a highlight.  It was nicely spiced.  Other sides included green beans, spaghetti, apple sauce, and au gratin potatoes.  Shrimp and fish sandwiches also available.  Kids pizza available.  Good selection of desserts.  Not sure percentage of homemade versus store bought.

Value

Good value.  $7.50 for adult fillet and $8.50 for adult combo (although I didn't really understand the difference.  Shrimp dinner was $8.50.  Dinners included two sides and drinks (tea or punch).  Desserts were $0.50. So for our family of five it was $27.50.   Kids 9-inch pizza was $3.50.  Ala carte sides for $1.00.  Draft beer $2.

Atmosphere

Nicely crowded, but not too crowded.  Friendly volunteers and smiling kids were helping clear tables.  It is always great to see volunteers of all ages helping out at the fish fry.  Long tables with real chairs.  The only downside to the long rows of tables was trying to squeeze into some of the seats toward the middle of the rows.

Overall
2.5 out of 4.  Nice neighborhood fish fry.  At this point in the fish fry season, after 4 weeks of fried Cod, having pre-breaded Cod was a downer, and nothing really jumped out in terms of uniqueness.  But overall was a nice fish fry with friendly volunteers and little wait time.  Even at 5:30, although it was crowded, it was a fairly short wait to get your food.

Year End Reviews

Sometimes it is hard to compare fish fries from year to year. Comparing that Cod from 2014 to 2008 can be a little tough. With that in mind, below is a yearly re-cap for each of the following years. We got a little busy in 2015, then 2017-2019 went by in a blur, so we are missing a few years, so sorry!

Fan Poll Winners - Best Fish Fry

Every year Friday Night Fish hosts a fan poll to crown a yearly fan favorite Fish Fry. It's a two step process with Round 1 selecting five finalists, and Round 2 voting from the final five to crown the yearly fan champion. So get ready every year for the annual poll and get your supporters voting for your favorite fish fry! We had some voting "irregularities" in 2014, so we discontinued the poll (for now).

For a recap of past winners see Past Fan Poll Winners.
