Fun Fish Fry Facts - 2012

A fun look at the habits and opinions of fish fry attendees and fish fry fans!

What is the Farthest you Would Typically Drive to go to a Fish Fry?
34% of respondents said they would drive up to 20 minutes to go to a fish fry. That is in line with the average commute time in the St. Louis region at 22 minutes.

Although the highest response was a 20 minute drive, 55% of respondents would drive up to 30 minutes or greater! Fun with stats! No respondents surveyed took transit, walked, or biked to a fish fry.

How many Fish Fries do you usually attend during Lent?

How long after Fish Fry season before you have fish again (especially fried cod)?
Yes , the equation is true:
Warm Weather + Daylight Savings Time + 6 Weeks of Fish Cod = Tired of Fish Fries and Friday Night Fish

During the cold days of January, everyone looks forward to the warm cozy atmosphere of fish fries and packed cafeterias.  But after six weeks of fried Cod, most, including Fish Fry Guy, start looking forward to Easter ham!  Also, interest in fish fry blogs plummets!

This weeks Fun Fish Fry Facts Survey Question was:  How Long After Fish Fry Season Before You Have Fish Again?  Almost 60% of respondents will be waiting a month or more!  They also won't be responding to fish fry questions!  Only 17 votes this week, compared to 70 responses last week.  Also, we've been averaging about 2,300 page views per Friday during Lent.  This week, just a little over 1,000 pages views at Friday Night Fish.  Every one's interest is moving on to Spring and Summer!

What  Time Do You Typically Arrive at a Fish Fry?
Over 60% of Fish Fry Fans arrive at fish fries between 5:30 and 6:30pm.

What is Your Favorite Condiment for Fried Cod?
33% of fans prefer a slight amount of tartar sauce, just edging those who prefer no condiments.  Malt Vinegar was a close third at 22%.

Year End Reviews

Sometimes it is hard to compare fish fries from year to year. Comparing that Cod from 2014 to 2008 can be a little tough. With that in mind, below is a yearly re-cap for each of the following years. We got a little busy in 2015, then 2017-2019 went by in a blur, so we are missing a few years, so sorry!

Fan Poll Winners - Best Fish Fry

Every year Friday Night Fish hosts a fan poll to crown a yearly fan favorite Fish Fry. It's a two step process with Round 1 selecting five finalists, and Round 2 voting from the final five to crown the yearly fan champion. So get ready every year for the annual poll and get your supporters voting for your favorite fish fry! We had some voting "irregularities" in 2014, so we discontinued the poll (for now).

For a recap of past winners see Past Fan Poll Winners.
