2011 Year in Review

A great 2011 fish fry season!  We ended the year close to home at Immaculate Heart of Mary, but as you can see from the list below, the fish fry family ventured east, west, north, and south in search of great fish fries. Everyplace is unique and it is always interesting to not only see the variety of food, the variety of how each fish fry handles ordering.   Highlights included:

Best Fish Fry
Both St. Peter and Our Lady of the Lake were top notch, but for different reasons.  Our Lady of the Lake was a small and cozy fish fry.  They had very spicy cod, a great value with kids under 6 free, and a cozy atmosphere with wood paneling.  St. Peter was big, but a well oiled machine.  Drinks and peel and eat shrimp stations made waiting in line easy.  Seating was so effecient that it made the ride fillers at Disney jealous.

Best Cod
A lot of great Cod this year.  Both St. Peter and Our Lady of the Lake were highest ranked.  St. Michael the Archangel and St. Joseph also had very good Cod.

Best Value
Best value was easily Our Lady of the Lake, especially with kids. Only $20 for our family of 5 with kids 6 and under free.

Best Atmosphere
Very good atmosphere at all the visits.  Everyplace was full of buzzing conversations and friendly volunteers.  A highlight was St. Peter where they re-fill your drinks at your table.

Other highlights:
The salad and bean buffet at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was a unique feature.  You could pick and choose as many of these sides as you wanted.

Our Lady of Guadalupe has entertainment and dancing starting at 7pm.  We didn't stay late enough for it, but it is supposed to be great.

Here was our 2011 Fish Fry schedule:
3/9 - St. Michael the Archangel, Shrewsbury
3/11 - Our Lady of Guadalupe, Ferguson
3/18 -  St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Oakville
3/25 - St. Joseph, Freeburg, Illinois

4/8 - St. Peter, St. Charles
4/15 - Saint Stephen Protomartyr, St. Louis

See you at a fish fry in 2012!

Year End Reviews

Sometimes it is hard to compare fish fries from year to year. Comparing that Cod from 2014 to 2008 can be a little tough. With that in mind, below is a yearly re-cap for each of the following years. We got a little busy in 2015, then 2017-2019 went by in a blur, so we are missing a few years, so sorry!

Fan Poll Winners - Best Fish Fry

Every year Friday Night Fish hosts a fan poll to crown a yearly fan favorite Fish Fry. It's a two step process with Round 1 selecting five finalists, and Round 2 voting from the final five to crown the yearly fan champion. So get ready every year for the annual poll and get your supporters voting for your favorite fish fry! We had some voting "irregularities" in 2014, so we discontinued the poll (for now).

For a recap of past winners see Past Fan Poll Winners.
